Name
Counteracting Unconscious Bias to Build a Diverse Team
Date & Time

Alicia Brace Shawn Baker
Description

Diverse organizations are more successful. However, the overwhelming majority of power in our country is held by white men. If these leaders do not use their power - which their white privilege helped them achieve - to make structural changes in their organizations, it is unlikely that we will ever achieve racial equity. Understanding our biases does not automatically empower us to do anything about them - studies have shown that trying to suppress our biases doesn't work. Our session will provide tools to mitigate bias so that you can successfully create a more diverse team.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn strategies to counteract unconscious bias in the selection process to enable them to build team reflective of their community.
  • Participants will receive actionable tools to ensure the success of their efforts.
