Description

Messing Up(ward) shares lessons learned and practical guidance from tcAccelerate, a data and continuous quality improvement (CQI) learning experience designed by Thrive and its partner UpMetrics. Our team will share how we used the principles of human-centered design and CQI to identify challenges that community-based organizations face when integrating data into their practice. We created a learning experience that merged professional development, data training, and reflective practice with an action learning component that allowed partners to implement, test, and tweak real programs in real time. We will share tactics, tools, and techniques that we taught, and learned ourselves, while helping community partners create meaningful and sustainable improvements for youth and communities. Our presentation will also include what we learned about creating and supporting resilient initiatives based on our experiences with implementation during COVID-19.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to integrate data and continuous quality improvement into existing initiatives and partnerships through the use of action learning, including practical discussions about tools, methods, and tactics for collecting rich and actionable data that for learning and improvement in the process of community engagement and program implementation
  • How to use reflective learning and design principles to create programs that are resilient, inclusive, and data-informed
