Meet Miriam Karamoko, a passionate Black, queer, non-profit professional who is presently serving in South Seattle and South King County of Washington State. Equipped with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an emphasis in neuroscience, they conducted research on racial prejudice, discrimination, and intergroup relations at Western Washington University (WWU). Their zeal for promoting racial equity grew stronger through their work at Center for Education, Equity, and Diversity at WWU, where they provided mentorship and counseling to support the academic achievement of communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities. Presently, Miriam is the Strategist for Culture and Racial Equity Impact at the Community Center for Education Results and serves as a consultant to help organizations in the region enhance their organizational and equity capacities. In their leisure time, Miriam enjoys being with loved ones, creating/reading memes, volunteering, and brainstorming ways to make the world a better place.
