Description
Deep understanding of community needs, assets, capacity and gaps is essential to designing a collective impact initiative that meets those needs and gains community buy-in. Developing that understanding and gaining buy-in is easier said than done, however, especially in an environment of chronic exclusion like rural Haiti. This session will examine several questions that arise, including: Who is “the community Who speaks for constituencies? How can different voices be engaged and elevated? How are marginalized people included? You can create the space to engage the community but still have the same voices. How can we be intentional to reach, engage, hear from, respond to and act with diverse and marginalized people to achieve our initiatives missions of serving everyone in a community?
