Speaker Bio

Lina Mira is the Executive Director of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley, a grassroots non-profit working on Latinx issues locally in and statewide. She has worked in non-profit organizations and educational access programs for over 20 years. Working with youth and families, Lina quickly learned the critical role safety net services and basic needs, such as food, shelter, transportation, and healthcare, play in supporting students and their academic success. As a community advocate, Lina is eager to connect people to resources and information, especially immigrant communities. Currently, she is excited about the organization’s involvement in defining and rebuilding a new economy post the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, her interests include mental health access, food insecurity, and supporting work and ideas that improve the quality of life of individuals and families in the region, which includes LA County and the Inland Empire. Lina has worked alongside various communities throughout the state of CA, from first generation college students, LGBTQ+, farmworkers, and most recently supporting her community through the COVID-19 pandemic. She chairs the Basic Needs Committee in the COVID-19 Action Group established by the City of Pomona. She earned her Masters’ Degree in Education with an emphasis on Equity and Social Justice from San Francisco State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Ethnic Studies from the University of San Francisco, CA. She is a Children's Defense Fund Fellow and a proud graduate of the Pomona Leadership Network.
