DeLa Dos, PhD (they, them, their, theirs) joins Beloved Community from working in higher education, most recently serving as the Director of Social Justice Education at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Previously, they have served as the director of a multicultural affairs department as well as an instructor and adjunct faculty for undergraduate and graduate programs. They developed an educational framework that was used to engage thousands of learners in meaningful exploration about numerous topics including diversity, inclusion, bias, privilege, oppression, humility, and allyship. They developed and managed a nationally recognized educational program that explored intersectionality, leadership, and community organizing. They have served as a consultant for local and national nonprofit organizations to help align values and actions through demonstrated action and change. DeLa holds a PhD in counselor education & supervision with a cognate in educational leadership as well as an MS in community counseling from Mercer University. They earned their BA from Emory University with majors in dance & movement studies and religion with a minor in sociology. With backgrounds in the visual and performing arts as well as mental health counseling, DeLa combines their passions for creativity, healing, and growth in their work to advance just and effect positive change for individuals and systems.
