Debbie is founder and vice-president of Groundswell Services, a consulting firm that supports equity-building movements through community-based research and evaluation. She has a decade of evaluation experience, specializing in culturally responsive, participatory evaluation methods, evaluation capacity-building, and evaluation of collaborative networks. With a background in community organizing and development, Debbie co-founded and directed an organization that empowered Hawai'i communities to reclaim stewardship of places where they live or have lineal ties. She decided to specialize in evaluation based on her experiences as a nonprofit director trying to understand impact. She currently is at the University of Denver in Colorado, teaching, working on a dissertation focused on a methodology for network evaluation, and studying trauma-informed and equitable evaluation practices.
