Description

In today's setting of pandemic, social upheaval, emerging local agency, and shifting development paradigms, our Movement is getting attention and building momentum more than ever. Collective Impact 3.0 guides HOW we come and stay together, and the Water of Systems Change helps us zero in on WHAT each chapter hopes to accomplish, and HOW to move forward. Co-creation is our guiding star: for many domestic African civil society organizations this represents a radical departure from the "top down" that international actors typically bring to the table. Since early 2019, as Movement's National Chapters have been emerging, growing, and changing, we've learned so much along the way, as we have been adapting and course-correcting. We're seeing early changes and system changes, which we believe are setting the stage for sustainable population-level outcomes.

Learning Objectives: Using case studies from multiple chapters, participants will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast how the Collective Impact 3.0 model plays out in different settings, and the variety of results it can produce
  • Apply the Water of Systems Change model via the lens of community-led development • describe three steps for building a local movement using a "new power" approach
  • Adapt experiences, lessons, and tools from this effort to their own work
