Andrea Garza is a proud Yolo County, California native, raised in the unincorporated community of Esparto. Her family has deep roots in the region. Her grandparents worked in the agricultural industry, specifically in the tomato fields and cannery in Woodland, CA. Upon graduation from Esparto High School in 2020, Andrea enrolled at Woodland Community College. She quickly became an active leader on campus there and provided peer tutoring to fellow students in subjects such as reading, writing, and statistics. Andrea continued her higher education at the University of California, Berkeley and earned her degree in Political Science in 2024. During her time at UC Berkeley, she became a published journalist with the Berkeley Political Review with a focus on the environmental issues impacting her home county of Yolo. Her passion for sustainability deepened as she also worked with the Fashion and Student Trends organization at Berkeley in the Sustainability Department.

Currently, Andrea is a Civic Spark Fellow with the Yolo County Sustainability Division, where she focuses on Equitable Community Outreach and Communication. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to the community that shaped her, and she remains dedicated to finding ways to uplift Yolo County residents. As she continues her professional journey, Andrea plans to further her education and build on her efforts to create lasting, positive change in her hometown.
