Tej is a public policy and strategic communications professional with over 15 years of experience in the social impact sector, spanning inclusive circularity, sanitation, climate resilience, early childhood education, and gender. He has contributed to shaping the role of communications and social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) across key Government of India policies and missions, including NIPUN Bharat, the National Education Policy (2021), Tamil Nadu’s Climate Change Mission, and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Currently, he is Head of Project, PRIDE (Pride, Respect, Identity, Dignity and Empowerment among Bengaluru’s waste pickers) at BBC Media Action, leading strategy and implementation for Saamuhika Shakti. Previously, he led strategic communications at Central Square Foundation and played a key role in strengthening India’s community radio movement. Tej has served as a jury member for UNESCO’s SDG Fellowship for Community Radio stations and is the contributing editor of Forest Lanterns, published by Penguin.
