Durell Coleman is the Founder and CEO of DC Design, a social impact design firm uplifting communities by partnering with governments, foundations, and nonprofits to eliminate generational poverty. A two-time Stanford graduate, he applies Design Thinking and Systems Thinking to drive measurable systems change.A dynamic speaker and educator, he lectures at Stanford’s d.school and Graduate School of Business. He has trained audiences ranging from C-suite executives at Sony and Santander to refugee leaders in global crisis zones on how to design systems for equity and inclusion.His work has led to a 14% reduction in jail recidivism in Santa Clara County, a 120% increase in Pre-K enrollment for English learners in California’s Central Valley, and a 12-family-per-month drop in homelessness in Newburgh, New York. He is the creator of the award-winning Design the Future program and author of the 5 Systems of Black Inequality research series.Durell has received the Jefferson Award for Public Service, been named a Top Social Entrepreneur to Watch, and is featured in the PBS documentary Extreme by Design. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife and two children.
