As a passionate collaborator and communicator, Jenny brings nearly 18 years of public relations and communications experience from agency, corporate and nonprofit settings both locally and globally. Her experience of living and working globally has fueled her interest to pivot the work to a micro-level within her hometown neighborhood. Now, communications manager for Amplify GR, she leads all strategic communications including execution for the organization’s place-based community growth efforts in Southeast Grand Rapids. Backed by national research and learnings from Purpose Built Communities, Amplify GR works at the intersection or people, partnership and place so that neighbors may prosper from the joys and benefits of a thriving neighborhood. Jenny credits a lot of her professional experience for being well positioned for her crucial role with Amplify GR, but also her personal experiences. As a neighbor in the Amplify GR service area with 5 generations of family history in the community, Jenny has spent significant time working, volunteering and partnering to ensure equitable outcomes for neighbors in Southeast Grand Rapids. In 2021, Jenny started the first Communications & Marketing Community of Practice for Purpose Built Communities. She is passionate about connecting professionals through peer-guided support and mentoring as this network grows its impact. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys her interconnected work-life balance as she supports neighborhood businesses and shows her 5 kids the joys of community work and participation. She also enjoys traveling internationally (away from the neighborhood!) and will be heading to Europe this summer with her husband, Tom.
