Waheera joins FSG with a background in community organizing, government, and nonprofit relations. She is passionate about empowering communities and bringing their voices and perspectives to the social impact sector. She is excited to couple equity-based engagement strategies with FSG’s theory of change to support corporate and nonprofit work.
Prior to FSG, Waheera spent several years in public service and local government. She served as the Bronx & Upper Manhattan borough director at the New York City Economic Development Corporation where she worked with elected officials, community-based organizations, and private sector partners to advance the external strategy for the agency’s economic development portfolio. She brings to FSG an extensive background in strategic engagement, policy analysis, government relations, and equity-based economic development. Waheera has worked with many mobilizing organizations to increase constituent participation in policy and urban planning work while working to combat voter suppression on the local, state, and federal levels. Waheera received her MPA from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service with a focus on policy analysis and urban planning and led the school’s Black Student Association (BSA).
