Jeffrey Acevedo was raised in Compton, California and is a product of the Compton Unified School District (CUSD) schools, having attended Robert F. Kennedy Elementary, Walton Middle, and Compton High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with degrees in Communication Studies and Art History in the Spring of 2020, and went onto attain his Master of Arts in Higher and Postsecondary Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in the Spring of 2022. Jeffrey is currently a first-year doctoral student at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) pursuing a program in Higher Education Administration and Policy where his research is focused on understanding the experiences of queer, Latino males within postsecondary settings, as they find their sense of belonging and grapple with their sexual identities particularly within culturally-based fraternities. He is also passionate about arts education, culturally-responsive pedagogy, and anti-racism within the K-16 pipeline.
