The Aspen Institute’s Opportunity Youth Forum, a network of over 40 local collective impact collaboratives, has spent the past four years implementing an intentional project to build the data capacity of network members. Alongside strategies that include funding local data projects, providing technical assistance, and designing a standard approach to measures and site level data, Aspen also worked with evaluation firm Equal Measure to assess changes in collaboratives’ data capacity and use of data, as well as the impacts that had on local measures of systems change (such as improved program pathways, and policy and funding changes). The new report, Using Data to Facilitate Systems Change profiles this work, and in this session we’ll discuss the components of this initiative, and how they produced measurable changes to collaborative capacity and local systems effectiveness.
