Including diverse voices (specifically those in rural communities, ones with limited transportation, or from geographically diverse communities) can be difficult in collective impact work. However, by planning intentional, effective hybrid meetings (meetings with both in-person and virtual participants) initiatives can tap into perspectives and leadership from individuals and groups who might not have been able to participate with an in-person or virtual-only option. As a statewide alliance, MELA has learned a lot about how to facilitate meaningful, engaging, and collaborative hybrid meetings so that the people in the room and the people online all get to contribute and participate fully, and want to share what they've learned to do(and not to do).
