Description
How might we think about the process of community listening in a way that is equity-focused? What considerations should facilitators, direct-service providers and anyone engaging the community keep in mind to listen to community in a way that contributes to equitable and collective impact? This session will provide a framework and strategies for listening to and acting with community that is inclusive and equity-focused. Case studies examining strategizing for immigrant equity in Los Angeles County, advocating for equitable language access, and designing equity into American Rescue Plan Act-funded projects will be used to illustrate how this methodology can be applied. By the end of the session, participants will see the potential for how equity-focused community listening can lay the foundation for sustainable collective action and impact.
