Colleen McCann is an Associate Director in FSG’s Strategic Learning and Evaluation (SLE) practice. She works closely with clients to develop strategic approaches to evaluating their work and build internal infrastructure, processes, and capacity to engage in ongoing learning. Colleen has engaged with foundations, nonprofits, research centers, and other organizations across a variety of social issue areas, including education; mental health and addiction; journalism and media; financial wellbeing; and workforce training and development. Prior to FSG, Colleen worked on issues in U.S. K-12 education and youth development for a decade. She began her career as a community organizer, working with parents and teachers to advocate for education policy and funding. That work instilled in her a deep belief in the power of people and organizations to create significant and meaningful change when they come together around a shared vision. After earning an Ed.M. in Education Policy and Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Colleen developed expertise as an evaluator and researcher at Policy Studies Associates (Washington, DC) and the Center on Reinventing Public Education (Seattle, WA). At both organizations, she worked with a wide range of clients across the country, including nonprofits of all sizes, school districts, government agencies, and foundations, to develop theories of change, design and implement strategic evaluation frameworks, and collect, analyze, synthesize, and use data, in service of helping each organization to learn from their work and achieve their goals for social impact.
