Hi everyone! My name is Gurvaan (she/they). I am a second-generation immigrant as an uninvited guest and settler on Turtle Island. My family migrated to so-called Canada from a village in Punjab, India. I am incredibly passionate about equity work, especially in making spaces safer for racialized folks, such as research and health care. In my various roles, ranging from directly supporting folks to conducting research interviews, I have consistently witnessed the immense need of EDI work. In positions where I have been able to combine my values and passion, including EDI work by incorporating aspects of intersectionality, decolonization, and harm-reduction, I have been able to see greater representation of marginalized individuals within those spaces.
