Tansi everyone! My name is Serenity Friskie (She/They), and I am an Indigenous Wellness and Engagement Coordinator for Foundry BC, a health research associate at the youth research centre, SARAVYC at the University of British Columbia, Indigenous Wellness educator, speaker and advocate in their community. I am of mixed European and Indigenous ancestry, including Néhiyaw, Sto:lo, French, and Brazilian. I am passionate about creating a better world, one where everyone's identity is celebrated, where justice & equity are at the centre of our communities. I have led projects to create student peer-support systems, culturally safe youth mental health services, traditionally rooted youth outreach in Vancouver’s DTES, and anti-racism forums for young people. I have the privilege to work with youth across Canada to shape and develop new ideas to create a system of health that supports all and centers youth voices. I am applying these skills at Foundry to build a Cultural Agility, Humility, and Agility Framework with an amazing team. I am located in so-called Vancouver, British Columbia on unceded and occupied Coast Salish territories, where you can find me hiking, swimming, and singing Olivia Rodrigo in the shower.
