This session will explore how a funder that led the development of a collective action initiative is working with its stakeholders and backbone organization, Root Cause, to plan for sustainability. The Biogen Foundation made a $10M, four-year investment in STAR, a collective action initiative designed to drive STEM education equity in Cambridge and Somerville, MA. In the midst of the pandemic, Biogen signaled to the broader corporate community in Kendall Square the value of STAR by committing to supporting the initiative at the same level in Year 5. Presently (in Year 4), Biogen and Root Cause are working with STAR stakeholders to develop new partnerships to support the expansion and depth of the initiative’s work beyond Year 5.Join us to discuss how funders that have solely supported early-stage collective action initiatives can cultivate partnerships that will diversify funding to sustain and strengthen the work over the long term.
