Description

Let’s talk about the power and relationship dynamics at play in funding relationships for collective impact initiatives. As grantmakers, our desire to positively impact the communities we serve fuels our work. We must work with nonprofits and communities to understand problems and define a path forward to create the greatest impact. But what would it look like to have nonprofits and communities truly drive our work?

During this session, we will discuss the importance of examining participation through an equity lens. Attendees will leave with tools to help your organization plan for three crucial “w’s” of participation: WHEN participation is important, WHO should participate, and WHAT participation could look like. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the critical value of community-driven philanthropy: they cannot effectively advance equity in grantmaking without considering participation and power redistribution.
