Brian is a policy analyst by training whose areas of expertise include critical race economics, wealth inequality, and anti-hunger policy. In his previous role with the North Carolina Justice Center’s Budget and Tax Center, Brian worked to advance progressive fiscal policy while partnering with coalitions to defend against federal and state efforts to erode critical anti-poverty programs. Brian continues to engage in policy conversations as co-host of the podcast At the Intersection.
Brian is a former educator, teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies as part of Teach for America. He has also worked in voter empowerment and mobilization. Brian holds a master’s in public policy from Brandeis University and a bachelor’s in political science and history from North Carolina Central University.
