Nyki Kish-FIeld is an author, artist and advocate who has long lived at the intersection of service provider and client: Nyki spent 9 years incarcerated and now works for two social purpose organizations while navigating the world of parole. Her publications include Maclean’s Magazine, Topia: Canadian Journal of Cultural Studies, chapters in Criminalizing Women: Gender and (In)Justice in Neoliberal Times, 2nd Edition and Gender, Law and Justice, and a full poetry collection. In 2008 she has founded Books to Bars, a prison literacy program; in 2014 she founded LGBTQ2S+for change, a peer-led model supporting LGBTQ2S+  peoples in Canadian prisons. Nyki now assists in grant-writing, program design and evaluation for L.I.N.C.’s transformative justice and food securities programming. She is also employed by Walls to Bridges Canada as the British Columbia Program Coordinator. She is presently completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of the Fraser Valley, focusing on carceral epistemology and ethnography.
