In this session participants will learn how the Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN)—a global multi-stakeholder collaborative network—is creating space for dialogue and mobilizing community and youth leaders to shine a spotlight on structural injustices and inequities that have created deep-rooted barriers to youth economic opportunity.  Participants will hear from community and youth leaders from two of the GOYN communities (Brazil and Kenya) discuss how they are organizing  collective impact efforts that move from dialogue and awareness to advancing data, research, and policy to influence how leaders and institutions across sectors must recognize and address some of the most persistent structural barriers to youth opportunity.

About GOYN: The Global Opportunity Youth Network’s (GOYN) is a multi-sector collaborative network committed to creating economic mobility for “Opportunity Youth” — young people aged 15-29 who are out of school, unemployed, or working in informal jobs.  GOYN is active in Pune & Ramgarh District, India;  Mombasa, Kenya; eThekwini, South Africa;  Bogotá, Colombia; São Paulo, Brazil; and Mexico City, Mexico.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn how GOYN brings together cross-sector leaders and opportunity youth leaders to create understanding and awareness related to systemic injustices and inequities that prevent youth from accessing youth economic opportunities.
  2. Hear perspectives from GOYN community and youth leaders as they share insights on how to shape and influence policy to mobilize support and advocate for systems change for opportunity youth.
