Description

In 2018, the Liberty Hill Foundation launched the Ready to Rise initiative to advance racial equity by challenging Los Angeles County, and to provide an actionable model to improve partnerships among county agencies, youth development organizations, and other groups. The Foundation knew it was critical to focus on changing relationships and connections, power dynamics, and mental models.  But to reach their North Star of creating the nation’s largest youth development system, they also needed to build capacity to support systems change internally and externally. Join Julio Marcial, vice president, as he shares how the Liberty Hill Foundation exercised its positional leadership as a public foundation with countywide reach to convene leaders from all over Los Angeles County to create an innovative, strategic, multi-sector public private partnership that has unlocked tens of millions of government dollars for nonprofits led by Black, Brown and Native American leaders they would have otherwise found difficult to access.
