Date & Time
Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Paola Silvestre Porras
Description

A dual-generational (2-gen) approach coordinates educational opportunities for parents and children fostering economic mobility for whole families. Parents complete education and training that lead to living wage jobs, and children achieve kindergarten readiness and success in school. If your organization is interested in “co-location” - “1 stop shops” for families, we created a resource to guide social service providers about 2-Gen co-location. The session will start with general considerations for any 2-Gen Partnership and will continue the tour of the toolkit You wanted a toolkit to outline the benefits, potential funding, potential partners, considerations/steps for setting up a partnership, and different models for setting up a partnership.

Learning Objectives:

  • The purpose is to help organizations offer programs that address the needs of two generations together thus improving outcomes for both adults and children. This toolkit helps programs that offer child-focused services add supports for parents and programs that are adult focused add elements to support children. We hope that organizations get excited about 2-Gen, and start seeing new opportunities and ways to serve organization in a way which disrupts the cycle of intergenerational poverty by intentionally linking services for parents and children.
