Ma'ta Crawford is a dedicated community activist and health worker based in Greenville, South Carolina. A native of Greenville, she grew up in one of its most underserved neighborhoods, which has fueled her passion for community service.
As a Certified Community Health Worker, Ma'ta has been instrumental in addressing food insecurity in Greenville County. She conducts gardening classes to empower residents to grow their own food, fostering self-sufficiency and healthier eating habits. Additionally, she authored a coloring book focused on community gardens, aiming to educate and engage children in sustainable practices.
Ma'ta is also the founder of SPIN, an initiative developed to support, encourage, assist, and educate single parents in key areas to help them build stronger families. SPIN recognizes the unique challenges faced by single parents and emphasizes the importance of providing much-needed support to navigate those challenges effectively.
