Today, people in every state in the country struggle to exercise economic and political control over their lives. Changing that reality means understanding and contending with the conditions that act as barriers to progress. In this talk, Taifa Smith Butler will introduce Dēmos’ groundbreaking Power Scorecard–a unique, interactive, data tool that provides an analytic overview of economic, civic, and political conditions in all 50 states. She’ll explain how and why this tool came to be, what our findings say about the link between our democracy and economy, and how advocates can use the tool to further their work to build economic and political power for people. Learn how this resource can inform policy advocacy and investment decisions to advance a multiracial democracy and an economy where all people can thrive, not just survive.
