Launched in 2021, the Brownsville Hub Cooperative develops community-led solutions to spark economic growth in Brownsville, Brooklyn. This session will discuss how JobsFirstNYC worked with community organizations/members and the Robin Hood Foundation to establish The Brownsville Hub Cooperative. We will describe how to develop a people-centered, equity-based approach to create a self-sufficient community that builds individual and community wealth through education, ownership, business, and workforce development. Will share best practices for the field and learnings on how to empower the community through narrative change.
