This session will explore the concept of collective leadership, and why it is foundational to the design and implementation of successful Collective Impact initiatives. It will highlight how and why collective leadership is unique and different from the traditional organizational leadership and explore the specific capabilities needed to lead collectively.
Participants will be introduced to a new self-assessment tool that allows them to assess their own strengths and areas for development in each of five core practices – community engagement, collaboration, collective leadership, community innovation, and evaluating impact – that are needed to advance community and systems-level change. They will then have an opportunity to assess their own collective leadership capabilities, have an opportunity to make sense of the assessment results with peers, and consider how they might continue to build their collective leadership skills.
